Second Prize in the Kathryn Bevis Memorial Poetry Competition
Anne’s poem ‘Some sisters use the word harmonious’ has won Second Prize in the Kathryn Bevis Memorial Poetry Competition 2026, judged by members of Kathryn’s writing group Circle Writers. The judges described the poem as ‘a linguistically and phonetically enjoyable prose poem in which the ordinance survey map of sisterhood with all its complications is laid out with such a light, sharp, confident voice’. Commendation in the George Crabbe Poetry Competition
Anne’s poem ‘Walking the Ypres Salient with My Brothers’ has been Commended in the George Crabbe Poetry Competition 2026, and published in ’12 Rivers’, the magazine of the Suffolk Poetry Society. Paul Stephenson, the competition judge, described the poem as ‘A beautiful exploration of fraternity, fragility and loss, evocative of the distinct natural landscape with its cottonwood poplars and swaying maize’. https://suffolkpoetrysociety
